The Lord of the Rings FPS AU
Most of my FPS is AU because I have two obsessions: Boromir must live. Frodo and Faramir must be together. So these fics tend to have happier endings than Tolkien's work. These fics draw on both bookverse and movieverse (blend, add water, and stir).
The Lord of the Rings FPS Dark or Dark Themes AU
Recently, I have become interested in dark elements in Tolkien's universe. These stories which are still FPS and AU are therefore different than my other AU fics because someone takes the Ring. So far, I've written Boromir and Aragorn. There is a planned Faramir in the future. These stories have either tragic or ambiguous endings. They also draw on both bookverse and movieverse.

The Lord of the Rings RPS Behind the Scenes
Since I write RPS, I obviously don't consider it illegal (well no more than FPS snicker) OR immoral OR an invasion of "real" people's privacy. "My thoughts on RPS as Role Playing Slash can be read here.
Started out David/Elijah, mostly PG-13, then mutated to David/Viggo/Sean, with some Andy thrown in. At that point, NC-17 is the rule, with major Bondage & Dom/Sub elements. Also very very long. And looks to be neverending. Started in Wellington during filming, then David and Sean and Viggo started having vacations (England and Idaho). Then they went back to Wellington for a premier. Which so far they haven't gotten to see. *So* not my fault. I blame Sean.

TITLE: The Mountain's Malice
BY: Ithiliana
CHAR: Boromir/Aragorn
RATING: Adult
DISC: All an airy fantasy spun of dreams and love!
FB: Love it!
AN: Boromir demands equal time. Still for
brodeurbunny30 and
caras_galadhon, with love, and in celebration of lovely new banner! Cause it is very inspiring banner and quote! Part of what seems to be a series including "The Silver Tree" and "Bright Rain".
Boromir set Sam down. The snow was barely enough to cover his furry toes. Unlike Pippin chatting about wolves, Sam had been silent. He rushed to Frodo who stood, shivering, next to Aragorn. Boromir felt the ache of cold and lack of sleep, eyes and lungs burning. Before he could speak, a thunder of stones and snow rumbled down the evil mountain. Retreating, the Company crouched against the cliff, Boromir between stone and Aragorn. Cold bit through wool, mail, and leather, but the warm body and soft brush of hair against his skin blazed through Boromir as Aragorn pressed close.

For years I've been talking about a concept I call creative procrastination which I attribute to an essay I read years ago in a journal (forget which one, probably Chronicle of Higher Education), and here it is online, by John Perry, under title of "STRUCTURED Procrastination" (I like my name better!): How to get a lot done while still being a procrastinator because we all are. I am a terrible procrastinator.
The subject header is a punchline from a joke involving Tonto and the Lone Ranger in a situation where they are under attack by "Indians," and Tonto reminds the LR just who is who and what is what. (I actually remember the television show, btw!).
The punchline illustrates a linguistic principle about how important pronouns are in constructing meaning and how often they are ignored (people don't think carefully about choice of pronouns, and the choice can be incredibly telling in some situations--as Perot found out when he referred to his African-American audience as "you people.")
Pronouns: words that hardly ever change in a language (and any change that takes place is incredibly slow over much time!), and that show *so* much without the speaker being conscious of it, especially "we" and "our," as shown by this great post in Language Log analyzing the heteronormativity in a quote from a dissenting judge (dissenting to the marriage equality ruling of the California Supreme Court): the quote at the start is Judge Corrigan's; the following language is the analysis.
"In my view, Californians should allow our gay and lesbian neighbors to call their unions marriages." Leaving aside the wondrous temerity of allow, think for a moment about what a reader will do with that our. Did Corrigan really intend to convey that Californians, or at least her sort of Californians, don't include gays or lesbians themselves among their number (though they may have some living next door)? Not really, I suspect, but the pronoun betrayed the thought even so.
(We've decided to take a lazy day and rest up for a grand day out tomorrow--we're really really tired, and Entwife had a hell of a time getting me on my feet this morning!)

A hating magically inspired pony along with a bunch of other ponies that I can send out to stand around and hate and glare at those who trifle with me!
Hating ponies.
I really really LIKE that idea......
I think perhaps I should go to bed and stop reading fandom_wank....

Aragorn braced his arms on damp ground, pushed back, biting his lip. Smells, crushed grass and water, recalling distant spring, leather and sweat, spiced the salty taste of blood. Boromir grunted softly behind. Aragorn tensed, breath coughing out, as calloused fingers twisted in. They had to be silent, but Aragorn could not hold back sounds as Boromir pulled out, hands sliding over flesh, pressing him apart. Arching his back, needing, Aragorn rocked as the blunt head nudged against him, settling in, pausing. Silent, Aragorn waited until a strong thrust took him, sparking a trail of bright rain in the dark.

link goes to vid, gacked from Smartbitches by way of Darlene Marshall with text from Reuters and vid from some good spirited citizen:
[Reuters}The Austrian national rugby team tried to get over their 48-0 defeat by Lithuania by staging a mass striptease in the capital Vilnius late on Saturday, only to find they had been caught on video and put on the Internet.
[SB}: What? Naked men stripping on the internet? Boo yah!...Enjoy the full experience of defeated rugby players.
Me: And the enthusiastic choruses from "Singing in the Rain" are um, well, they add a whole new dimension to the experience.

From all over my flist (this is exploding through cyberspace!): California Supreme Court decision overturning ban on same sex marriage, in effect (my very bad summary of legal language read while I was bouncing up and down and squeeing), the benefits/rights of marriage are basic enough to be constitutional, and same sex marriages do not detract from rights/benefots for heterosexuals who are married (yeah, their 50% divorce rate has nothing to do with queers!), and so yeah, marriage equality (for any two people, I guess)!
thank heavens fandom_wank is back to normal with sparkly vampire wank, (so THAT is what Twilight is), but I just have to say: my vampires do *not* sparkle.
At all.
