Of course I will use spoiler cuts, but will probably be posting during the night. I cannot stand to sit on a couch for the whole time (so will just be watching those parts where LOTR or Pirates is up for something--um, I don't think I saw any of the others, too busy going to see LOTR and um Pirates, and won't watch any acceptance speeches that don't involve well, you do the math. Snicker.
We went to see Return today! Had to drive an hour for the 1:20 show (did some shopping for cats on the way--litter and catfoodno dwarves have applied yet so I guess I have to continue doing all the work *sigh*), and the theatre was full. Now, they'd put it in a fairly small theatre in the 30-plex, but still, we think a lot of die hard fans were there on Awards day, um, like we were (but we were the only ones who stayed through the credits!!!!!!!). And some fans had brought friends: judging by the questions, these were the ones who hadn't seen it and were only there because of the Awards. But someone behind us was singing along with Aragorn at the end--in perfect accent and time! DHF.
Ya know: it's a fine movie. I love it.

Not giving away any of awards which would be a spoiler, but a couple of thoughts, mostly from Entwife, who's watching more than I am (I go out when called):
First, young actors dressed in rilly rilly fancy glam formal clothes should be advised NOT to chew gum. It spoils the effect.
There's nothing funnier than a media person asking fluff questions to which they expect a canned answer being hit with an intelligent thoughtful comment (Rene Z on historical issues relating to the Civil War). Expression on interviewer's face was apparently....priceless. Fearful "OMG, she's using words with more than one syllable and complete sentences!!!"
Somebody must have told Elijah he wouldn't be mistaken for Tobey Maguire if he wore a green velvet hobbit suit.
The women who act are mostly wearing about three square inches of fabric over each breast joined with some weird little band below which sometimes looks really weird when they're standing behind a mike, and the last one who won had to be wearing eight inch spike heels. They more or less had to haul her up on the stage since she was also wearing an extremely tight dress.
Literally. Globe. Fashions. Uh-huh. *blinks in amazement at what women do to themselves*
